The SOG's Award for Master’s Theses

The Southeast Europe Association once a year awards a prize for outstanding master's theses in the field of research on Southeast Europe. The award is endowed with a prize money of 300 €, completely funded through donations. Awardees are granted the opportunity to publish the thesis’ central results in the SOG's publication series (in Südosteuropa Mitteilungen or Southeast Europe in Focus). Furthermore, the awardees are admitted as members of the SOG for one year free of charge.

The precondition for application is that the thesis was submitted a maximum of two years before the application and that it was written in German or English language.

Documents to be submitted

  • Curriculum vitae (1-2 pages)
  • all reviewers’ reports of the thesis
  • a synopsis of the master's thesis (1-2 pages)
  • one copy of the master's thesis

Application deadline: 1 July

All documents can be submitted in PDF format using the online form below.

Both the authors and the reviewers of the thesis are entitled to submit the application.
