On the laureate

Igor Božić is a Serbian journalist and media executive with more than 30 years of experience in independent media and broadcast journalism. Until 2026, he served as News Director of N1 Serbia, one of the leading independent news platforms in the Western Balkans, where he led editorial strategy and newsroom operations during a period of intense political pressure on independent media in Serbia.

Known for his advocacy for media freedom and professional journalism, Božić has worked in an increasingly hostile environment for independent reporters, particularly during the 2025 protests, when attacks and threats against journalists intensified.
