Workshop in the Woods

Temporalities

In recent years, perspectives on temporality have increasingly attracted the interest of cultural anthropologists. Viewing research fields through the prism of temporalities opens up new dimensions for anthropology and its actor-centred and praxeological focus.

The workshop for PhD students and postdocs is based on the idea of exchanging and discussing theoretically rich texts from anthropology and adjacent fields. We seek to discuss the practical value of theoretical concepts and their translation into our own research. The workshop will be in English.

We ask participants to suggest articles or book chapters that will be shared in the group in advance. Please suggest texts that were important to you because you found them inspiring, because they opened up a new perspective on something familiar, or because they are simply fascinating. Please draw a connection to your own work when presenting the texts.

Please confirm your participation and send your text suggestion to barbara [dot] pachler [at] aau [dot] at by March 25, 2024. We will compile the reader by the beginning of April, so everyone has enough time to read all the texts.
