Keynote lecture

Necropolitics, Forensic Contemporaneity and the Database: From Closure To Potentiality

Adla Isanović, Academy of Fine Arts Sarajevo

    On the topic

Focusing on database and the forensic contemporaneity, this lecture questions, problematizes and analyses how database are being conceived and what their relation is to knowledge production within the current shift between biopolitics/power (Foucault) and necropolitics/power (Mbembe). By elaborating on the nature, power and promises of dominant digital technologies it conceptualizes them in relation to the forced separation of surplus life, normalization of violence, erasure of past, dehistoricization, racialization, turbo-nationalism and turbo-fascism (Papić), as well as (digital) coloniality to which bodies and lives are exposed.
